5 Reasons Why Dieters Regain the Weight

July 25, 2019 By Cyd Notter

If you've ever lost a few pounds on a diet plan but later gained them all back, you're not alone.

The success rates of typical diets are dismal - less than 3% of typical dieters keep the weight off long-term.

If you're a disappointed dieter, take heart. It may not be your fault. Often times, you don't fail the diet - today's popluar diets are failing you.

I've spelled out 5 Reasons Why Dieters Regain the Weight in a free PDF, which is yours simply by subscribing to my newsletter. The newsletter typically goes out once a month, so don't worry - I promise not to overload your inbox.

Download your complimentary copy here.

If you already subscribe to the newsletter, you can request your free copy by emailing me here.

With warm regards ~

The Last 10 Years of Your Life

June 20, 2019 By Cyd Notter

I watched this short video at a class in 2015, and I've never forgotten its powerful impact. It still moves me.

It's a side-by-side portrayal of the same man experiencing very different events in his latter years of life.

What a striking example of God's reaping and sowing principle.

The seeds we sow today (the foods we currenlty eat) will determine the harvest we reap tomorrow (our health outcomes).

If this video produced by the Canadian Health & Stroke Foundation isn't a motivator to consider our eating habits, I don't know what is. Plant your best crops, my friend, by sowing the seeds of whole food, plant based nutrition.

Don’t be misled; remember that you can’t ignore God and get away with it: a man will always reap just the kind of crop he sows! (Galatians 6:7, TLB)

Read more about Reaping and Sowing in the "Plant Your Best Crops" chapter of The "Plan A" Diet.

Kindle version available July 2, 2019.

Concerns with Coronary Calcium Scans

May 16, 2019 By Cyd Notter

Considering a Coronary Calcium Scan? A Coronary Calcium Scan is a CT scan of the heart that detects the amount of calcium in the artieries, but many respected groups, researchers, and professional cardiology societies are now recommending against the test.

In her informative article today, Dr. Pam Popper explains the current concerns about the test, which partly include:

  • The test does not detect plaques, and therefore cannot inform a patient of their true risk of experiencing an event or death
  • Someone with a perfect score of zero can still have significant blockages
  • Cancer concern from the large dose of radiation (100 - 400x a traditional xray)
  • False positives which lead to unnecessary, invasive procedures and drugs

Because the potentential harms outweigh any benefits, many groups are now recommending against the test (including the USPSTF - The U.S. Preventative Services Task Force, which finds no evidence that screening for coronary heart disease is beneficial).

Just one more reason why we need to do our homework before agreeing to any type of tests or procedures, preventative or otherwise.....

.....and another great reason to protect our arteries with a whole food, plant-based, no-added-oil eating plan, as spelled out in The "Plan A" Diet.

Is a Plant-Based Diet Safe for Children?

March 21, 2019 By Cyd Notter

(The following is an excerpt from my new book The "Plan A" Diet: Combining Whole Food, Plant-based Nutrition with the Timeless Wisdom of Scripture)

Photo on VisualHunt

Is this diet safe for children?

Of course it is, but I sense your concern. You may be willing to change your own diet, but are leery of any perceived risks to your child. That’s understandable. But a diet plan proven to be the healthiest one on the planet certainly applies to the children, too.

Because your child’s health is a priority, may I encourage you to change their diets now. The Standard American Diet, filled with too much protein, fat, cholesterol, and environmental chemicals, leads to many common health issues for kids. (Read the rest of the article here.)

Have you heard of Marshall, Texas?

July 27, 2017 By Cyd Notter

A friend forwarded the link to this video, and it's so amazing that it's worth sharing with you!

The long-term Mayor of Marshall (and his wife) pursued an alternate treatment for his impending prostate cancer, and what they discovered changed not only their lives, but many in their town as well.  By adopting a whole foods, plant-based diet, they've demonstrated the power of good nutrition and helped many in their community lose weight and reverse common ailments.  The stories are incredible and inspiring!

Well-known doctors and speakers appear in the video, and some of the topics discussed include cancer, Alzheimer's disease, animal protein intake (especially in athletes), fat intake and diabetes, the nutrition stats on fish, and one humbling example of how consuming just a little bad food in our diets on a consistent basis can prevent optimal health.

This video is about an hour long, but well worth the watch.  If you're like me, you'll come away inspired to save your whole community.

I'd love to hear your "big take-aways" after you watch it.........please do share!
